Meet Niktha (Name Changed for Privacy)
When 2 ½-year-old Niktha arrived at AGAPE, the world was in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. We weren’t accepting new admissions at the time, but when we saw her standing at our gate—frail, sick, and clinging to her elderly grandfather—we knew we had to take her in.
If she had returned to her village, she wouldn’t have survived.
A Life Hanging by a Thread:
Niktha was battling multiple life-threatening conditions when she arrived:
Severe malnutrition, HIV-positive, Active Tuberculosis (TB), Pneumonia, Respiratory Infection, Seizures, Fever, Vomiting, and Zinc Deficiency Causing Skin Breakdown.
She was immediately hospitalized for 30 days, and just a month later, she needed another two-week hospitalization. Her body was too weak to sit, walk, or talk—all she could do was fight to stay alive.

Today: A Happy, Active Little Girl
Niktha is now a joyful and energetic child. She still faces challenges, but she’s thriving—laughing, playing, and learning.
Her story is proof that one act of kindness can save a life.

A Slow but Miraculous Recovery
With dedicated medical treatment, proper nutrition, and love, Niktha slowly started improving.
She sat up for the first time after months of care.
She took her first steps at AGAPE.
At age 5, she started saying her first small words.
