Our Mission

AGAPE: A Home, A Family, A Future

AGAPE is home to over 200 children from diverse communities, all connected by a common thread—they come from an HIV/AIDS background. Some children are HIV-positive themselves, while others have lost one or both parents to the disease. In fact, nearly 80% of AGAPE’s children are full orphans, with no parental support.

But AGAPE is not just an ordinary children’s home—it is a family. Many of our children come from deeply broken backgrounds, carrying the trauma of losing one or both parents. Any counselor will tell you that losing a parent is devastating; losing both is emotionally overwhelming. That’s why AGAPE focuses not only on transforming their physical health and fighting malnutrition but also on healing broken hearts.

Over the years, we have witnessed remarkable transformations in our children—both emotionally and physically. Many arrived at AGAPE malnourished and without any formal education. Yet, with love, care, and support, they have gone on to finish high school, attend college, and even pursue graduate studies. Despite the hardships they’ve faced, our children continue to rise, proving that HIV is not the end, but a new beginning.

A Lifeline for HIV+ Orphaned Children in India

Our iniitatives

Every year, countless children in Telangana, India, are born HIV-positive, facing an uphill battle from the very start of their lives. Without treatment, many of these little ones don’t make it past their first birthday, and the heartbreaking reality is that most won’t live to see their fifth. Even when these children have surviving relatives, fear—of stigma, of infection, of financial burden—often leaves them without a place to call home. The need to provide love, care, and hope for these children is overwhelming.

For the past 21 years, Agape has been a beacon of compassion in Hyderabad, standing as a trusted refuge for children orphaned or affected by AIDS. Local hospitals and police turn to us first, knowing that we will welcome these children with open arms. We do more than just provide shelter—we nourish them, care for their health, and ensure they receive life-saving treatment, so they don’t become another tragic statistic.

Nearly half of the children in our care are HIV-positive, but to us, they are simply children—each one deserving of love, dignity, and the chance to build a bright future. At Agape, we strive to empower them with education and the skills they need to grow into independent, self-sufficient individuals, no matter their HIV status. Because here, every child is more than their diagnosis—they are family.
