Education at AGAPE: Building Futures Through Learning

Primary Education

At AGAPE, we believe every child has the right to an education, not just through 10th standard but beyond. For many of our children, AGAPE School is their first real opportunity to learn. Some have never been to school, others dropped out, and many, despite having attended school, arrive without basic academic skills. We’ve seen students unable to write the alphabet yet somehow finished 6th class before coming to AGAPE.

To address these diverse educational needs, AGAPE offers a Bridge Program, modeled after a government initiative, for children with little or no formal education. This program helps them progress from no education to a 5th standard level within two years, enabling them to transition into mainstream classes.

AGAPE provides English medium education from LKG to 10th standard, offering more than just academics. Our curriculum includes sports, arts & crafts, and music, helping children build confidence and develop their unique talents.

Higher Education

Despite their challenges, many AGAPE students have completed high school, attended college, and even pursued graduate studies. Today, AGAPE supports 40 college students, with an equal number of boys and girls. By providing consistent education, emotional support, and opportunities, we empower children to break the cycle of poverty and stigma, ensuring a future filled with hope and possibility.

Vocational Training

At AGAPE, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to pursue education and career paths that align with their skills and interests. After completing Class 10, students undergo career counseling to explore their strengths and available options. While some continue with traditional academic routes, others who may struggle with formal education are encouraged to pursue vocational training, equipping them with practical skills for financial independence.

Currently, four of our students are enrolled in vocational courses at St. John’s College, specializing in ANT and CSE streams. Last year, three girls successfully completed both basic and advanced beautician training.

Recognizing the importance of skill-based learning, AGAPE launched its own Vocational Tailoring Training Centeron August 15, 2022, with an initial batch of 10 students, providing them with hands-on training for self-sufficiency.

Healthcare

AGAPE is committed to providing quality healthcare for all its children. We have partnered with KIMS Hospital to offer comprehensive inpatient, outpatient, and diagnostic services. Proper nutrition is vital for HIV-positive children to strengthen their immune systems and support their treatment. That’s why we ensure balanced, nutrient-rich meals alongside medical care. Additionally, the Government of Telangana supplies monthly antiretroviral medications for HIV-positive children, helping them lead healthier, more resilient lives.

To ensure daily medical care, two residential nurses monitor the children’s health and administer medications twice a day as needed.

AGAPE also operates its own fully equipped dental clinic, featuring two dental chairs and a dental X-ray machine, where volunteer dentists provide regular checkups and treatment, ensuring the children receive essential oral healthcare.

Children Homes

What truly sets AGAPE apart is the deep sense of family and belonging that flourishes within our community. For children who have endured tremendous loss, AGAPE is more than just a home—it is a place where hearts heal, friendships form, and unbreakable bonds are created.

Many of our children have lost not only their parents but also the support of extended family due to stigma and fear. At AGAPE, they find love, acceptance, and a second chance at childhood. Here, they laugh, learn, and grow together, forming a close-knit family where older children mentor younger ones, caregivers provide constant encouragement, and every milestone is celebrated.

We all long to belong—to be part of something greater than ourselves. AGAPE gives these children that sense of belonging, a place where they are not just cared for but truly cherished.
